An extensive working knowledge of anatomy and the actions of individual muscles is required to prescribe the safest and most effective exercises to overcome musculoskeletal dysfunction.
Physios are extremely competent at this as they undertake at least 4 years of study in anatomy and function of the human body, in addition to the daily experience gained throughout their careers of working with people and the continuing education they undertake.
Exercise prescription involves selection of the most appropriate exercises for your injury or condition, based on the dysfunction you present with and the current evidence supporting the effectiveness of the exercise. Some exercises have over time been proven dangerous; other exercises are inappropriate for untrained bodies.
As our Physios are extensively trained in muscle function and exercise selection, the exercises they prescribe will be specific to your condition and targeted to the area. The number of exercises prescribed and the frequency suggested to perform them will be tailored to you and your capacity, with regular progressions being supplied as your capacity improves.
